We have an employee handbook that we have been advised is in need of updates to comply with various NLSB requirements. We are seeking a volunteer familiar with employee handbook requirements to assist us in making the needed updates as we have no one on staff or on our Board who has this expertise.
Marin Ballet develops confident, healthy, and joyous students through exceptional ballet training, performances, mentorship, and community engagement. Our success in doing so is grounded in our excellent and talented staff and faculty. When we hire staff/faculty, we review the handbook with them and ensure they understand policies such as leaves, grievances, employee escalations, performance documentation and reviews, etc. Our law firm has advised us that updates are needed to comply with NLSB requirements and while they have proposed doing so at a 20% fee reduction, the cost they are quoting is still $3,200, which is significant for an organization still recovering from the impacts Covid has had on our enrollment and fundraising, The Board wants to ensure that the organization is protected from any liability that could arise from non-compliance. Once updated, our plan would be to review material changes to any policies and/or protocols with the staff/faculty. We believe in a transparent, collaborative environment and want to ensure that our staff/faculty understand what they can expect from the organization and what is expected in turn from them, especially if HR-related issues arise.
Our Director, Catherine Hader, and our Board Chair, Mona Steinberg, will be available to answer any questions, collaborate on needed updates and decisions, and review the final product.
