We are a 100% Volunteer-Run nonprofit. Your help will be super impactful...Our goal for this Taproot project is to create an updated strategic plan and business model that supports our growing collaborative work.

This includes refining our goals, clarifying revenue streams, and aligning our mission across multiple initiatives:

The Connected Family Community (in partnership with Elizabeth Sautter)

The Mental Health Scholarship Program

The Virtual Speaker Series

Expansion of programs to serve parents, caregivers, and professionals supporting neurodivergent children and teens

We are seeking a skilled volunteer to help us:

Assess and refine our current nonprofit business model

Clarify goals across programs and partnerships

Update our strategic plan with clear action steps

Identify potential funding opportunities (grants, corporate sponsors, donors)

Provide guidance on positioning and messaging to support expansion and fundraising

This work will set the foundation for our next stage of growth and allow us to serve more teens/young adults in need of neurodiversity-affirming education, resources, and community support.
This project is central to helping us fulfill our mission of providing accessible, neurodiversity-affirming resources, education, and support for families raising children, teens/ young adults with emotional regulation, executive functioning, and social communication challenges.

*A core part of our mission is The Mindful Match Program, which provides mental health scholarships for teens and young adults who would not otherwise have access to therapy, coaching, or support services. By creating a sustainable strategic plan, we can expand the reach of this program, match more youth with qualified professionals, and help close the care gap for vulnerable families.

Through this project, we will also:

Expand access to The Connected Family Community, offering low-cost, high-impact education and coaching for parents and caregivers worldwide

Grow The Virtual Speaker Series, bringing expert guidance directly into homes, schools, and communities

Secure diversified funding streams to support both operational growth and scholarship distribution

Build infrastructure that allows us to serve more families with sustainable, long-term impact

By partnering with a Taproot volunteer, we can strengthen our foundation, clarify our roadmap, and position our organization to support thousands of youth, parents, and caregivers through evidence-based tools, compassionate care, and accessible mental health services.
My team and I have prepared for this project by:

Securing internal buy-in and alignment from our leadership team and partners, including The Powerful Project board and The Connected Family Community co-founders

Reviewing our current organizational documents, including existing strategic plans, financial reports, donor materials, and program overviews

Clarifying our vision for program integration and expansion across all collaborative efforts

Identifying key challenges and opportunities we hope to address through this project (ex: sustainable funding, clear value proposition, strategic growth roadmap)

We are fully committed to implementing the recommendations from this project, and your expertise will directly inform how we structure our next phase of growth. We have the capacity to meet regularly, provide materials, and take actionable steps between sessions to keep momentum strong. We are positive people and look forward to meeting someone who can help us in this next phase of growth. Thank you for considering helping us.

Organization Mission

The Powerful Project partners with skilled, vetted clinicians who agree to work with our families at a reduced rate to help stretch donation dollars and family resources. This allows us to match children and families with some of the most dedicated and experienced professionals in the field. Our donor network is comprised of individuals, groups, and businesses who believe in investing in humanity through the healing of our children. They are dedicated to removing financial obstacles to obtaining services. By having a number of disciplines and clinicians onboard we're able to fine-tune and pinpoint the best interventions and supports needed and ensure funds are well-targeted and utilized to their full potential. Our goal is to make ideal outcomes possible for children and families who need them most. In addition to working directly with families’ needs, we also provide an effective and direct outlet for those who want to support the community but have limited time, knowledge, or ability to do so effectively on their own. We have seen first-hand that families who are doing “just well enough” and “getting by” could be thriving if given the opportunity for therapeutic support and education. We believe there’s a group of people who are falling between the cracks: they do not qualify for government financial support and insurance does not provide enough help. They may find that insurance is unreliable and they do not have the expendable income to invest in themselves or their children. Our practices and those of many other practices try to help by offering sliding scale, pro bono sessions. However, there’s a limit to how much can be offered this way. The Powerful Project fills this gap by providing opportunities for healing and growth for children and families. On a personal level, and with the power of connection, we have an opportunity to not only change the lives of individuals or families but to make a lasting positive change in the world.
