Girls in Gear is looking to partner with a skilled volunteer to help us redesign our flier marketing materials to better reflect the warmth, diversity, and accessibility of our programs. Currently, we have one flier for the organization and separate fliers for each of our four programs - but as we've grown, the materials have become visually busy and harder to manage.

We’d like to create one clear, inclusive, and inviting flier that presents all our seasonal offerings in a cohesive way. This new flier should communicate who we are and what we do at a glance, while maintaining our brand integrity and staying true to our values of inclusion and representation. It should be visually appealing and friendly to a wide audience, including caregivers, educators, and community partners. We use Canva for all design projects and already have a curated photo library, brand guidelines, and color palette ready to go.
Girls in Gear builds confidence in girls of all ages and abilities through bike riding and mentorship. This project directly supports our mission by making our programs easier to access and understand for the communities we serve - especially families navigating language barriers, financial insecurity, or unfamiliarity with biking.

By creating a single, unified flier that clearly showcases all of our offerings, we’ll be able to reach more families, better represent the diversity of our riders, and ensure that every girl - regardless of experience level or background—feels like she belongs. Your design work will help more girls start their journey with us and feel strong, seen, and supported on and off the bike.
I have prepared for this project by organizing all the assets a volunteer will need: brand guidelines, logo files, a library of high-quality program photos, and examples of past fliers. We've discussed our goals internally and have a clear vision of what we want this final product to do—clearly communicate our fall programs in a way that feels accessible, warm, and aligned with our brand.

We’ve also gathered feedback from families and community partners about what information they need most, and we’re ready to implement the redesigned flier across digital platforms, print distribution, and community outreach as soon as it’s complete. We’re committed to being responsive, collaborative partners and will ensure the volunteer feels supported and appreciated every step of the way.

Organization Mission

Girls in Gear emboldens girls of all ages and abilities, especially low-income girls and girls of color, by using bike skills to foster confidence, autonomy, and independence. Our programs - Pedal Power, Club GiG, Glide-to-Ride, and Camp GiG - offer safe, inclusive spaces for growth, focusing on life skills beyond biking. With a no-questions-asked scholarship policy, we remove barriers by providing bikes, helmets, and financial support, ensuring every girl has the opportunity to thrive. Learn more at girlsingear.org.
