We're seeking a website expert to give us feedback on our current website’s layout, user-friendliness, mobile readiness, content, and general look and feel. You'll present our team with your recommendations for improvements to help us maximize our site to support our goals. We currently use WordPress to host our site. Using this audit, we hope to build a new website with a professional designer reflecting the insights you help us uncover!

We'll start with a briefing session where our team will share our goals and tell you about our target audiences and what we hope to achieve with a new website. We'll collaborate to define our next steps and set a timeline. When your analysis is complete, you'll deliver a short presentation to our team with your recommendations and give us a document of your recommended tactics and updates.

Our ideal volunteer can spend ten to twelve hours over three to four weeks reviewing our website. They have experience in web design and marketing, ideally with an expertise in UX.

This project will NOT include:
-Website design
-Website development/coding
-Development of a content marketing strategy
By working on this project, a volunteer would help our organization drastically improve our user experience not just for those individuals looking to support us financially and emotionally, but for the actual survivor clients seeking crucial services who need clarity and conciseness above all else.
To prepare for the project, we can provide you with detail about our target audiences and our organization's goals, and how we measure success. We will have a dedicated member of our team who will be responsible for supporting you throughout the project and providing limited back-end access and analytics depending on the need.

Organization Mission

DVP's mission is to help survivors of intimate partner violence and their children live free of abuse. DVP recognizes the dignity and worth of all individuals – we consider intimate partner violence, regardless of gender, sexual identity, religion, immigration, or other status, to be a human rights violation. DVP is a team of 22 passionate lawyers and advocates who together provide vital wraparound support and services to help survivors across NYC through a comprehensive model of legal services, advocacy, empowerment groups, and community outreach efforts. All our work is trauma informed and based in client self-determination. Our clients reflect the range of diversity present in the broader New York City demographics, including but not limited to, individuals who are D(d)eaf or hard of hearing; blind or visually impaired; those with physical and/or mental health challenges; survivors who identify as: LGBTQ+, gender fluid, non-binary, and cis male. More than 65% of our clients are immigrants, of those 54 % are undocumented – and 53% of all our clients are non-native English speakers. The average client lives at or below the federal poverty guidelines. Although DVP serves clients regardless of gender identity, the majority, 85%, identify as female, and 74% live in households with two or more members. DVP serves survivors across NYC: 32% live in Queens; 19% in Brooklyn; 19% in the Bronx; 18% in Staten Island; and 8% live in Manhattan. The largest ethnic proportion of clients identifies as Hispanic/Latino – more than double the next largest group, Black/African Americans. These are followed by roughly equal proportions of South and East Asians and Caucasian Whites, and Middle Eastern, European, and North African Whites. Finally, in terms of age range, the largest proportion of clients is 36% age 35-44; followed by 30% age 25-34; 14% age 45-54; 11% age 24 and younger; and 8% age 55 and older.
