Our organization is looking to build our board of directors. We are seeking advice on basic board composition questions from someone with a background in nonprofit governance, board work, and/or recruitment. During this Session, I’d like to discuss: All compliance issues to verify. Should we utilize a ‘working board’ or ‘governing board’ model? What skills should we recruit for? What should the minimum and maximum term lengths for board members be? Should we stagger board terms? How do I evaluate board effectiveness? Also, ensure are records up to date.
