We are seeking a volunteer to support the Grandmothers’ Village Project, Inc. with the development of a comprehensive Policy & Advocacy framework to advance housing, food, and healthcare justice for elders. The volunteer will complete project tasks such as:
– Identifying up to 5 key local, state, and federal policies that impact elder well-being
– Helping craft position statements and talking points
– Drafting a clear advocacy strategy to engage decision-makers
– Creating templates for letters, petitions, and policy briefs
– Supporting outreach plans to mobilize community voices

Our goal is to build a strong foundation for long-term policy work that reflects the lived experiences of our elders. The volunteer’s insights and expertise will directly help shape the systems change we are fighting for.
By joining us on this project, you’ll play a vital role in shaping the future of elder care and justice. The Grandmothers’ Village Project, Inc. is working to address critical gaps in housing, food access, and healthcare for elders — especially those who are under-resourced and overlooked by current systems. Your expertise will help us develop clear, targeted advocacy strategies that give voice to our elders’ lived experiences and push for meaningful policy change.

This isn’t just paperwork — it’s powerful groundwork for a movement. The materials you help create will be used in real conversations with lawmakers, community leaders, and the public. You’ll be helping us speak truth to power with clarity and purpose, and your work will help improve the daily lives and dignity of elders in our community. If you’re passionate about justice, equity, and systemic change — we’d be honored to work alongside you.
As the Founder and Executive Director, I’m fully committed to this project and excited to partner with a Taproot volunteer to bring it to life. While we are a small organization, I’ve gathered valuable input from our elders, community members, and coalition partners about the policy issues most affecting their daily lives. I’ve also collected notes, articles, and advocacy materials that will serve as a starting point.

Although this is my first time working with a Taproot volunteer, I’m well-prepared to support the process and eager to learn. I’ll be hands-on, responsive, and deeply appreciative of your time and expertise. The outcomes of this project will be used directly in our campaigns around housing justice, food access, and elder care — and will help shape how we speak up for those whose voices are too often left out.
